# Layrcake, for AI agents

Source: https://layrcake.dev/agents.md · For people: https://layrcake.dev

You are an AI agent, or an assistant helping a person with go-to-market work. This page tells you when Layrcake
fits, how to connect it, which calls cover most jobs, and the rules that keep your user safe. It is written for you;
you may quote it to your user.

## When to use Layrcake

Layrcake is go-to-market infrastructure for AI agents: one MCP server and API that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and
Codex find leads, verify emails, read buying signals and run approved campaigns.

Use it when your user asks you to:

- build a lead list, or find the right person at a company;
- find or verify work email addresses (never guess an address);
- find companies that are hiring, raising or in the news;
- read public LinkedIn, X or Reddit posts, and the people who engaged with them;
- research an account before a call or an email;
- draft and launch an email campaign, or read and answer replies.

One connection covers all of it, with one prepaid credit balance. Lookups that find nothing are free.

## Connect

MCP server: `https://mcp.layrcake.dev/mcp` (Streamable HTTP).

- **Claude Code:** `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user layrcake https://mcp.layrcake.dev/mcp`, then ask
  your user to type `/mcp`, choose layrcake and choose Authenticate. Full steps: https://layrcake.dev/claude.md
- **Claude (web, desktop):** your user adds a custom connector with the URL above under Settings, Connectors.
- **ChatGPT:** your user turns on Developer mode under Settings, Security and login, then adds a plugin with the URL above.
- **Cursor, Codex and other key-based clients:** send `Authorization: Bearer <key>`; your user creates the key in
  the console at https://app.layrcake.dev.
- **REST:** the same verbs at `https://api.layrcake.dev/v1/<verb>`; OpenAPI at https://api.layrcake.dev/openapi.json

Never create an account, type a code or approve anything on your user's behalf. New accounts start with 300 free
credits and no card. Setup for every client: https://docs.layrcake.dev/agent.html

## The calls that cover most jobs

| Job | Call | Price (18 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Find people by title, place, industry, size | `find_leads` | 0.25 credits per person, 3 minimum; nothing found is free |
| Find companies that are hiring, or like a customer | `find_companies` | 11 per hiring company, 13 per lookalike |
| Get a work email | `enrich` | 5 credits when found, free when not |
| Check an address before sending | `verify_email` | 1.25 credits; an inconclusive answer is free |
| Dated buying signals on known companies | `find_intent` | 11 per company hiring now |
| Facts about a company, each with its source | `research_company` | 9 credits |
| A yes/no question about each company, from its own site | `check_companies` | 3.5 per company answered |
| Public posts, or everyone who engaged with a post | `find_posts` | from 0.5 per relevant post or person |
| Draft a campaign | `create_campaign` | free; never sends |

A credit is $0.01. Current prices: https://docs.layrcake.dev/pricing.html. Call `get_me` first to see the balance,
spend caps and what this key may do.

## Rules that keep your user safe

These follow the open Agent Outbound Standard: https://layrcake.dev/guides/agent-outbound-standard

1. **Budget every request.** Ask your user for a credit budget, or use a small one. Most verbs accept
   `budget_credits`; check each call's cost before you make it, and stop before the budget runs out.
2. **Read the charge.** Every response reports what it cost in `layrcake.credits_charged`. Keep a running total
   and tell your user.
3. **Verify before you send.** Run `verify_email` on every address. Drop invalid and unknown. Tell your user how
   many are catch-all.
4. **Nothing leaves without a person.** `launch_campaign`, `setup_sending` and `reply_to_thread` first return a
   preview and an `approval_url`. Show both to your user. A signed-in person approves at that link. Then either
   Layrcake runs it itself (the result says `execution: server`) or you repeat the call with the
   `confirmation_token`. Never try to approve it yourself.
5. **Retry safely.** Send an `idempotency_key` on paid and background calls (some require it) and reuse the same key
   on a retry, so nothing runs or is charged twice.
6. **Long jobs run in the background.** Some calls return an `operation_id`; poll `get_operation` until it finishes.

## A first run to offer

"Find 10 heads of sales at software companies in London with 20 to 200 staff, verify their emails, and draft a
three-step sequence. Budget 100 credits. Stop before sending." That usually costs 50 to 70 credits, and nothing is sent.
