Does checking an email send anything to the person?
No. The check talks to the mail server for that domain and asks whether the mailbox exists. No email is sent, and the person isn't notified.
What is a catch-all domain?
A domain whose mail server accepts mail for any address, real or not. A plain check can't tell a real mailbox from a made-up one there, so we run a second check. When that confirms the mailbox, the answer is catch_all_valid.
